Aerospace Expertise Built on Decades of Leadership
Established in 2007 in Park City, Kansas, Lightning Aerospace operates from a large industrial manufacturing facility that supports aerospace customers with precision machining, fabrication, assembly, and certified quality systems. Lightning Aerospace was founded by Craig Bakel and his wife, Connie. After more than 20 years working in the aircraft manufacturing industry and gaining experience across all facets of the business, Craig made the decision to launch an operation built around quality, capability, and long-term growth.
Built Through Determination and Investment
The company began with the purchase of two vertical CNC milling machines, acquired through financing secured by personal assets. These machines supported the production of metal and aluminum aircraft components and laid the groundwork for the company's future expansion within the aerospace manufacturing sector.
Expanded Capabilities With Certified Quality
From its modest beginnings, the operation has grown to provide precision 5-axis machining, lathe turning with live milling, formed sheet metal details, and parts assembly services. The company maintains AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management System Certification, supporting the development and maintenance of aerospace industry quality requirements and process integrity.
